Case study presentation

Thank you, ICELAND!
Just a week before Iceland, the land of ice and fire, was the destination for participating teams from Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania and Finland.
We joined the Icelandic group and started the project, related to young people’s role in society.
We worked together at Akureyri Comprehensive College which is the biggest vocational school in Northern Iceland.
We enjoyed the multicultural teamwork, feeling part of a group and discovering information about the Media’s effects on young people’s minds.
We gained knowledge about each other, looked at the topical issues and the way people act in different case studies.
Please, read more about the impressions through the short notes made by Noora, Frida and Shakuntala, a team from Finland,Porvoo International College.
Looking forward to having you soon in Finland!
Anita

Day 1: City seeing, loving the beautiful nature (and bunnies), talking about the media effect more, going to a shopping center, then went to eat at a local restaurant.
Day 2: AMAZING DAY, AMAZING PEOPLE!! The Latvian students arrived at night after their loooong drive to Akuireyri. We made up all their beds for them. We woke up at 7 am, made some breakfast and got ourselves ready for School. At school we got to know each other for the first time and chatted over coffee. Then we presented our home tasks per group until lunch. Then we started our campaigns until coffee and our outing to a youth center. After this, we had free time with our cool new Icelandic friends! Later we returned to our cottages… And movietime!
Day 3: School essay and video presentation and campaigns. We won!!! After a long day we celebrated our winning and last time together!
Day 4: Going for a tour at 7:30! Seeing hot lagoons, old volcanos, lava and swimming in a hot lagoon! Packing; not in a good way… Last hour with other students!!! Dinner and back to the airport for our flight to Reykjavik and a night in a hotel.
Day 5: Waking up at 4:45!! Brekkie and then to airport again! Flying to Finland. Tired, missing all the students…

I started my journey full of passion and excitement. I enjoyed my flight especially the domestic flight, the plane was too small. When we reached there it felt so good.
First day we went to visit the town, it was so beautiful, I took so many pictures and also ate their traditional food, then when we reached our cottages we arranged the beds for our fellow students who were arriving late.
The next day we went to school where we introduced ourselves to other students and started our campaign. I got two partners. It was a nice experience to work with new members and we did good teamwork.
Then we (the Finnish team) gave presentation about our essay and video, and last but not least we won.
Then we had a party in our apartment with all our other friends which was great. Last day we went to visit some beautiful places and we saw the incredible view of nature and God’s creation, it was amazing.
It was a great experience for me and I learned so much from this trip.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen nature like this on Iceland. Everything looks so calm and your eyes just rest on the horizon.
Every day we were busy socializing, presenting, listening and working as a team here. Everyone is really amazing, some more and some less, but all of them have their good things.
I never got nervous in front of them because I felt like everyone’s going through the same thing, and that getting nervous is just unnecessary and not that professional. I was very self-confident as always while presenting and I think it showed in the results as we won, again, as a team.
I think people should have worked more together then just working. There’s a difference between getting it done and making it well done, and the only way to collaborate is to talk, be active, respect other’s opinions, include everyone and always remember that you are a team.
In the sightseeing trip I really felt mind blown. How can a country that simple in nature be so charming? And the people, always happy and caring. It’s easy to approach them, and I feel relaxed while speaking with them.
I really enjoyed this whole trip, and I wish that I’d get to go again!
Everyone was amazing, Iceland was wonderful, Thank you all for this experience!

Hello!

Our campaign was created of three nations - Iceland, Finland and Lithuania. Today is the last day of our project, so we did a good team work together and completed it happily.

It is really nice to be here, we have so much fun. It is sad that we have just one day, but we promise that we will enjoy our time together.
